450 Door Panel Removal
There are few reasons to remove the door panels but it's always nice to know just in case.
The removal of the door panels is quite an easy one, clearing room for it's removal however
takes a bit of time. Firstly it helps to remove the front panels which can be found here, you
will also have to loosen the wing mirrors or remove them which is here.
OK, so loosen the wing mirrors.
Lower the window and pull off the external window seals.
RAISE THE WINDOW all the way to the top.
Behind the top of the door panels are 3 clips that slot into a channel (circled in red).
People recommend a knee in the centre of the panel but I found a hip worked a bit better,
didn't hurt so much and the extra size unclipped the panel a little easier.
As you push the panel in (about 3 inches), you should here a click, this will almost certainly
be the centre clip coming unclipped, move your hip or knee along a bit and do the same for
the other two clips. They can be a struggle but they will come off eventually.
With all 3 clips undone, swing the back down slightly and pull the front edge down,
the door panel should slide quite easily from the door frame.
With the panel off you can access the window parts, lock and connections.
With refitting it is advised to open the windows when sliding the panel back on, this way you can pull on the top of the door to aid sliding the panel clips in place. If you just force the panel upwards there is a chance you could bend the hinges out of alignment.
