Roadster Trip Computer
Heres the guide to fitting the trip computer to the roadster
The Roadster trip computer is an addition for the roadster to include information like mileage / speed etc, you can find more information here

If your roadster has Boost and Temp pods installed and working, then this will just work, if you have no pods (then get them!) you will need the TAN code provided by Smart

You need the following parts to get this working

SQ0013120V002C59Z0 trip computer
SQ0013157V004C22A0 switch face
SQ0013156V004C96A0 switch frame

Button relocation

Basically we are going to move the button bank down into a lower drawer and install the trip computer in its place.

Remove your stereo, and custom surround if you changed from the original, there are 5 clips on the original face, 3 top and 2 bottom, releasing the top and pulling and the facia will pop off.

Once the facia is removed, there are 2 clips each side of the existing bank, push them in....

....and the bank will come out forwards.

Pull the existing buttons from their switch plugs, they can be stiff, but come off with a wiggle.

OK, time to remove the old trays, these just pull out.

Once the holders are out, it's time to remove the ashtray / cig lighter section. If you reach in there is a retaining bar, which if pulled in releases the clips (see next pic for better description)

The retaining bar itself.

The cigarette lighter section is still attached, and there is a Torx 15 behind it holding the cigerette lighter in place - this needs removing, once removed pull the lighter forwards and it comes loose.

At the back there is a connector for the cigarette lighter, unclip it.

Pop the switches into the new retaining bracket with the flush side being at the top.
The correct order is as follows but you can place them where you like.

Window - Boot release - Roof - Fog lights (if installed) - ESP - Window

You should get something like this all being good.

Pust on the facia plate.

Pull off the lower center plastic part from the center console

there is a Torx 15 behind this - undo it

inside the lower centre console there are 2x T30's - remove them.

As you look at it - the lower console is in 2 sections, the right hand section comes foward and the left away from you and they should unclip, unclip and the sides will come out.

From your radio / old bank section - move the switch cables through the large hole down to the carpet, be careful not to catch any cables on route down .

They should be then loose on the floor.

insert the switch cables through the right hand hole in the lower section.

Reclip both bits back together do up the Torx at the rear and the one on the plastic itself and push the lower trim pice back on,  taking you cigarette lighter piece, we are going to install this on the next run down (see pics down), you will note the clips that hold it in place, then the screw it back into into new hole and reconnect the connector at the rear.

smart even leave you the new points for this.

It should be something like this once you clip the switches onto the facia (note i have a blank one).

Push your facia in place and prod some of the excess cables down the hole at the rear.

Reinsert the ashtray section pushing the bar in again, and then remaining tray thing.

Trip install

Ok so now your lower section buttons have been moved, its the easy bit.

Find this cable, it connects the pods to the LIN Bus.

Unclip the joining cable and plug the 2 remaining cables into the corresponding trip computer points.

Push the trip computer into place, it should be lit up.

Reinstall stereo - job done, excuse my lack of buttons, they are being modified.
