451 Door Quarter Glass Removal
How to remove the small quarter glass at the back of the door
The quarter glass is what tends to explode into thousands of pieces if you get something
trapped in the door as you slam it shut. It also doesn't take kindly to being forced which
is usually where thieves try and get in from by bending the top of the door. Luckily this
doesn't work and just makes a hell of a noise as the window suddenly explodes.
Remove the top and bottom Torx30 bolts as circled below.
The runner and the window are 1 piece so pull it towards the front of the car
slightly and pull the whole thing up. You will need to angle the piece to get the
bracket passed the top bar that the door panel clips in to.
Refitting A New Window
A replacement window can be bought from smart. Pull the rubber runner out of the old window upright and push it into the replacement, this saves buying a new rear runner. Insert the upright back into the top of the door (again, an angle gives you more room but you might have to pull
the top door bar away slightly to give you room to pass the upright and bracket through).
Offer the replacement quarter window into place and replace the 2 bolts to secure.
Check that all the seals are positioned properly and replace the main window.
