Handbrake Cable Removal

Disconnect the handbrake cable

Modification Details

Handbrake cable removal looks fairly simple. The cable ends sit in a cup that is
pulled up as the handbrake is applied. This pulls the handbrake cables which in turn
applies the brakes at the rear wheels. A large spring keeps a certain amount of tension in
the cables when the handbrake is released so the cables don't disconnect themselves.

To disconnect the cables, release the handbrake to the normal driving position.
Pull the top cup down and pull the cable ends out of the cup on both sides.

The cables can then be slide out of the lower retainer.

With the tension removed and the cables free it will be possible to disconnect the cables
from the rear drums. Picture and better description for the drum disconnection to follow.
