453 Phone Holders

Modification Details

OEM Phone Holder

This is the standard phone holder available from smart and Renault (for the Twingo).
It's massively over-priced and even 2nd hand, they sell for too much.

The other problem is that they are rare 2nd hand and they won't hold every phone due to the restricted opening size.

It it only compatible with the non media stereo.

Twist the cap...

...and pull it off to reveal a USB socket.

You'll notice that the phone holder has a USB plug.

Line up the arrow and the USB. Push it in...

...and twist the collar to the right.

That's it fitted. It doesn't swivel, so landscape only.

Fully extended like this, the maximum phone dimensions are:
Width 143mm
Height = 75mm

Fully retracted like this, the minimum phone dimensions are:
Width 108mm
Height = 50mm

The clamps ratchet inwards towards the phone. If you press the buttons underneath, the clamps fully extend.

On the side of the mount is a full sized USB socket.

This is so you can attach a short lead and charge your phone whilst it's in the dock.

Aftermarket Phone Holder Type 1

This is my prefered style of phone mount due to the way it functions and the fact it will hold a larger phone.

Twist the cap...

...and pull it off to reveal a USB socket.

Plug in the required lead. In the kit I bought, I got a lightning, USB micro and USB-C cable.

Post the cable into the back of the supplied mount and through the hole.

Line up the arrow so it's at the top and push the mount into the stereo.

Twist it over to the right to lock it.

Loosen the clamp nut on the rear of the phone holder.

Push it only the ball and tighten the clamp nut back up so the phone holder doesn't flop around.

The maximum width that the arms extend to is 85mm. The height of the phone is unrestricted.

The great part of this phone holder is that it can be used in landscape or portrait.

Aftermarket Phone Holder Type 2

I wasn't as keen on this phone holder because of the lack of adjustability.

The maximum phone dimensions for this holder are:

Maximum width = 88mm
Maximum height = 150mm

Minimum width = 50mm
Minimum height = 115mm

This phone mount can be used in landscape or portrait.

These are exactly the ones I bought from the same companies. This company have a better mounting base.
