A few of the lucky owners of the X-Gauge talk about the start-up sequence and a few, including myself, have tried to film it. Nothing really gave it enough justice. The only option left was to hand make an animation using the pictures kindly donated by Welte Engineering.
I realise this is the age of the Playstation where pixels are measured in their thousands and graphics are displayed using millions of colours, despite this, there is something very satisfying about the start-up.
Even though it’s only 128 x 64 with 16 colours of black and yellow. Maybe it’s a mental regression to the days of the 8 bit games.
So here they are, each 2Mb each, both .AVI files, download them and have a look.
