Remember this is a prototype so what you see isn’t the finished project. This is a separate Evilution project so if you have any questions please ask me and don’t hassle the manufacturer of the X-Gauge.First picture, temporary fitment.

Yes it is dark but the screen was at its lowest brightness so it can be made much brighter.

Problems so far:

    • 2nd ghost image
    • Fitting

The ghost image was to be expected with the standard laminated windscreen but should be fixable with one of two ideas, keep looking back for further info. Second picture shows the display on full brightness, ghost image more obvious.

Why The Double ‘Ghost’ Image?

As the light enters the windscreen it is reflected mostly off of the first layer but some of the light travels through and reflects off the second layer which offsets the image.

There are a few things already for sale that can be reflected off that give a nice clear image but the light continues through to the windscreen so the original and ghost image remains.

Ideally we need a filter that will block light passing through it one way but not another. This picture is an exaggeration of the filtering properties required.

I have started looking at polarised filters which should work to a certain extent with the OLED of the X-Gauge as the output is already polarised. If I can angle the filter correctly it will stop most polarised light passing through it but allow a reflection of the original image.
